Haven: Child, Adolescent & Family Therapy
What does Rebecca have to offer?
After completing my Bachelor of Arts at the University of Waterloo, I went on to further pursue my education and training in the field of Social Work. During my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) placement I was introduced to the concept of play-based therapy, which ignited a fire in my heart for this work. Since then, and over the course of the past 15 years, it has become my mission to support the emotions of children through elements of play. In 2013 I obtained my Master of Social Work (MSW) from Wilfrid Laurier University with a keen focus on clinical therapy. From 2016-2017 I completed all three levels of foundational training with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy. I have also completed all of my play therapy practice hours, but continue to pursue my supervision hours with a Certified Play Therapy Supervisor (CPT-S). It is my hope to be able to submit my application package in the new year to become certified! Most recently, I have completed, and am now certified in the EMDRIA Approved EMDR Basic Training, which allows me to apply EMDR as an evidence-based trauma therapy with adults, children and youth.
My professional experiences have evolved over the years by working with children and their families within schools, hospitals, not-for-profit agencies, residential treatment, and child welfare. Through these experiences I’ve gained sound knowledge and understanding of our mental health system.
I am confident that my combination of professional repertoire and personal hardship allows my clients to feel seen, heard, understood and supported. I am someone who your kids will feel comfortable with and want to see again.
